EtsyInspired #50 ~ Mrs. Kwitty's Cottage and a Giveaway

>> Sunday, August 23, 2009

This week's EtsyInspired shop is Mrs. Kwitty's Cottage. This cute little shop has all sorts of stuff in it. She has cute fabric stuff like totes, brooches, memo book covers, cell phone pouches, keychain wallets, tote bags, tissue packets, business card wallets and lots more. She has adorable paper stuff like bookmarks, tags, cards, collages, and garlands. Actually, she has more stuff than I can name. What's amazing is that her shop looks very focused and together. I don't know a lot of shops that can pull that off. I really like her eye for putting different patterns together. Her style is sweet and shabby chic and it comes across in everything she does.

This week Mrs. Kwitty's Cottage is giving out an awesome prize made just for this challenge! It's a sweet little covered notebook with these adorable little set of matching vintage button paper clips. All you have to do to win is go to Mrs. Kwitty's Cottage and pick out any item to be inspired by. Make any creation you'd like and post a link to it right on the post on my Heart Hugs blog HERE. Have your project linked by next Friday Aug 28 by noon Pacific time. If you upload to SCS or PCP, please use keyword EIC50.

In addition to the wonderful giveaway from Mrs. Kwitty, we have a sponsor this week! Our sponsor is Ildi Co. They have a bunch of really adorable stamps. I hear there are gonna be a bunch more stamps really soon too! They are offering up 3 digital stamps of the winner's choice and a 10% off coupon for their next purchase. So, two awesome prizes!

Go be EtsyInspired!

Here is my card for this week. I was inspired by THIS piece. I noticed that she likes to combine florals and polka dots. I thought that was a cool idea. The stamp is Unity and the designer paper is Stampin Up. I used the GetSketchy sketch from this week for the layout.

EtsyInspired Rules

EtsyInspired Rules from Ashley

I wanted to post this since I've been getting some questions from people and I thought I would share the answers with everyone.

1. You can make ANYTHING you want. Just because we are mostly card makers, it does not mean you are limited to making cards or even just paper crafting. You can make jewelry, a cake, a drawing, a poem, do a dance, etc... It doesn't matter to me what you do as long as your inspiration comes from the shop.

2. You may enter as many times as you wish. If you find a prize or a shop particularly interesting and you want to make 10 items, go ahead. However, each one must be either uploaded to your blog, SCS or PCP and you must leave a separate comment to each individual item.

3. You need to mention that you made the creation for the EtsyInspired Challenge. It's not fair to take something you made last week and try to submit it. The point is to find inspiration from these amazing artists.

4. There are no vendor requirements. Ever.

5. All creations are due (linked the the original EtsyInspired blog post for that week) by the following Friday at noon Pacific time. Please remember to link your creations! It would be a shame not to be entered if you made something.

6. You may combine the EtsyInspired challenge with any other challenge you wish. I know that some of us are very busy. If you want to combine this challenge with your DT work, SCS challenges, or a challenge from another blog, no problem!

7. Tell all your friends! Ok, so this isn't really a rule but it would be awesome. The more people who play the merrier! Also, if we can get a larger following, I'm sure that larger prizes will follow!

And as always, thanks for all your support with this challenge! EtsyInspired is my baby and I absolutely love it so I hope you are getting joy from the challenge too!

About This Blog

>> Thursday, August 20, 2009

The EtsyInspired Challenge was the brain child of Ms. Ashley Newell. Back on Septmebr 9th, 2008, she launched her first challenge with an amazing Etsy shop and 2 Design Team members, one of which is still part of the DT today! Yea Tiff! The challenge was born of Ashley's love of handmade crafts, her appreciation for the warmness of Etsy artists, and the recognition of their talent.  Etsy designers bring back the art of home made to the world's finger tips!

The first challenges were hosted on Ashley's blog, Heart Hug Designs.  The challenge continued to grow and reached the point of needing its own "home" in the blogosphere.  On August 23rd 2009 the EtsyInspired Challenge blog was born!

Today, over one year later, there are 10 regular DT members, 1 monthly guest DT and a growing participation in the weekly challenges inspired by Etsy art.

EtsyInspired is where it is today because of all of our wonderful challenge players, sponsors and our super talented DT. And of course, because of Ashley's love of art, Etsy, papercrafts and her vision of a challenge that combines them all!

EtsyInspired... Art Inspiring Art...

As Ashley would say, "Go get EtsyInspired!"
